ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

The project is operated by “Friedenshof Kommunität e.V.” – a non-profit association – with the vision to support the international understanding, tolerance as well as international ethos based on the idea of non-violence. The association’s main activities are taking place in and by the Friedenshof-Gemeinschaft, an intentional community of currently 9 adults and 4 children. The aim of the project is to afford a young person to get to know alternative ways of life and work in an international dimension as well as to discover various subjects like sustainability, community life, spirituality, communication, economics and non-violence theoretically but particularly practically. The volunteer will participate in the community life’s structure (3 daily rituals) and have various responsibilities. There are routine work, tasks based on different community projects or seasons as well as the own projects of the volunteers. (garden, construction site, kitchen, sheep, fruit processing…)

ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS

The volunteer will stay in a single room in the old house or, if she prefers, in a caravan on the community area. Kitchen and bathroom is shared with the community and other guests. Organic vegetarian food is provided; for lunch time, it is a common meal and for breakfast, dinner and always in between, kitchen and food stock are open for selfservice. Taking part in cleaning the kitchen after the meals is part of the normal daily household routine for everyone.

TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY

The participant will take part at the On-arrival-training and the mid-term meeting, organised by the National Agency. There is also the possibility to take part in various seminars taking place at Friedenshof community.

PARTICIPANT PROFILE

The “Friedenshof Kommunität e.V.” likes to welcome one volunteer for one year. The person may have social, geographical or economical obstacles. The participants want to live in a rural environment and spend a lot of time outdoors in the garden, with the animals and on the premises for various activities. In addition, they would like to get to know community life as alternative to usual forms of living and look forward to intensive contact with the other community members. You are interested in a sustainable lifestyle, where consumption and expensive leisure activities step back.
